Thara is a veterinary doctor, a recent graduate from Galápagos, and a passionate advocate for wildlife conservation, with a special focus on the unique biodiversity of the Galápagos Islands. She has dedicated her career to working for the health and well-being of the native and endemic species of the islands, actively volunteering at several animal rescue centers across the country.

At the Galápagos National Park, Thara participated in the Rapid Response Network program, where she conducted monitoring and health studies on various species, gaining practical experience in veterinary care and wildlife conservation. Her commitment to conserving the flora and fauna of the Galápagos is a deeply rooted vocation, driven by a strong desire to protect such a fragile and diverse ecosystem.

Thara understands the importance of environmental health, and her approach aligns with the “One Health” concept, which recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. Currently, she believes it is essential to address these aspects comprehensively in her work, promoting practices that benefit both wildlife species and the human communities that coexist with them.

As she progresses in her career, Thara aspires to be part of initiatives that integrate veterinary health with conservation and sustainable resource management. Her vision is to contribute to the creation of a future where biodiversity and public health are priorities on the conservation agenda, ensuring that the Galápagos Islands remain a refuge for wildlife and an example of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
