Microbiology and Biomolecular Laboratory Coordinator
Soledad obtained her degree in Veterinary Zootechnics from the Universidad Central del Ecuador and her Master’s degree in Microbiology from USFQ.
Soledad serves many roles for the Galapagos Science Center, including as the Laboratories Manager, Microbiology and Biomolecular Laboratory Coordinator, Biobank Coordinator, Field Assistant for the Water Quality Project, and Laboratory Assistant for the Human Health Project. In addition, Soledad provides support to the Parque Nacional Galapagos (PNG) in emergency care in the Rapid Response Network and the Oskar Jandl Hospital in San Cristobal in the diagnosis of COVID-19.
Soledad has worked as a veterinarian in various places such as the Tueri Fund, the Zoological Foundation of Ecuador, the Center for Marine Mammals in Sausalito California, and the Teaching Hospital of Veterinary Specialties at USFQ.
In her spare time, Soledad is a Hula Hula Instructor, a dancer of various genres, and enjoys doing yoga and body surfing.
