UNC scientist John Bruno working with Galapagos coral monitoring team
- John Bruno worked this summer with Universidad de San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) colleague Judith Denkinger and officials at the Galapagos National Park to establish a coral monitoring program in the Galapagos Islands.

2nd World Summit on Evolution: August 2009
- The Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and its Galapagos Institute for the Arts and Sciences (GAIAS) will host the “Second World Summit on Evolution” between 22 and 26 August to commemorate the Charles Darwin bicentenary.

Climate Change Conference: April 2009
- A workshop on Climate Change in the Galapagos Islands, sponsored by Conservation International and the World Wildlife Fund is scheduled for April 21-23 on Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos.
