Call for Proposals: UNC Galapagos Seed Grants

The Center for Galapagos Studies announces its 2010 seed grant program for UNC faculty.

A public presentation and reception will be held to announce the Galapagos Initiative being jointly developed the the Unversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

Diego Quiroga and Carlos Mena will lead a seminar and discussion, “Galapagos in Crisis: Challenges for Science.”

John Bruno worked this summer with Universidad de San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) colleague Judith Denkinger and officials at the Galapagos National Park to establish a coral monitoring program in the Galapagos Islands.

2nd World Summit on Evolution: August 2009

The Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and its Galapagos Institute for the Arts and Sciences (GAIAS) will host the “Second World Summit on Evolution” between 22 and 26 August to commemorate the Charles Darwin bicentenary.
